Lulu Pearl Kwakye is the Founder and Executive Director of Divine Gateway with extensive credentials and accolades in nursing leadership roles at Emory Healthcare and Grady Health System.
Born in Ghana, Lulu has witnessed the challenges that fatherless children in that country experience and she has been through the arduous process of adopting children from her homeland. She launched the Divine Gateway Foundation Inc., built a strong volunteer team, and has achieved steady progress since 2005.
In 2020, Lulu shifted all of her time and energy to the Divine Gateway Foundation.
The year 2005 was a pivotal year in her life with 3 monumental events! Her career accelerated when she joined Emory Healthcare in Atlanta as a Staff Nurse. She started proceedings to adopt two children from Ghana.
A profound dream revealed plans for her to form and build an international community-based foster care foundation with the first location in Ghana, her homeland.
For over 16 years she have traveled these 3 paths simultaneously with a significant commitment to her children, mounting career achievements, and steady growth in what has come to be known as the Divine Gateway Foundation Inc.
In 2020, with her children grown and thriving, she left the healthcare field to focus full-time on this noble endeavor. Her vision is to transform the stark realities of many orphanages into nurturing home environments and educational communities—divine gateways to a new life that blossoms with possibilities. Below are some of her professional achievements and qualifications which have molded and positioned her for success in this next chapter of her life journey:
In 1999, she obtained her Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA
in 2003, she graduated with Associate in Nursing, from Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, Tifton, GA
in 2004, she landed her first RN position at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, GA
In 2005, she joined Emory Healthcare, in Atlanta, GA
From 2010-2013, she obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing degree, & Masters in Healthcare Administration, from University of Phoenix
In 2013, she was promoted to Shift Nurse Manager in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) at Emory Healthcare
In 2015, she started a project with the team called, “Foley-Free” zone in an attempt to eradicate the urethral catheter-associated urinary tract infections in the hospital.
In 2016, the Foley-free zone project won 3 awards, among which included the
Southeast Critical Care Summit – 3rd place
Georgia Hospitals Association – 3rd place
In 2017, she joined Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, as a Clinical Staff Manager in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
During her 1st month at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA, she won Employee of the Month, at MICU
During the same year, she won the "Top Nurse Leader" awarded by the International Nurses Association
Again in 2017, the International Nurses Association dedicated a page of attribute to Lulu's contribution in the Foley-free zone project
As a token of gratitude for Lulu's work and dedication to nursing, the International Nurses' Association, again published a video attribute on YouTube about Lulu's contribution to patients' safety (click Youtube link below)
In 2018, Lulu was among the Finalists for the Academy Awards for Nursing Excellence and Outstanding Contributions to Nursing Leadership, by Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, jo
In 2020, Lulu was promoted to Interim Nursing Director position in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Grady Hospital, Atlanta, GA.
Throughout her nursing career, Lulu Pearl Kwakye has had the privilege of working at Essentia Health, Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente, and stanford Healthcare.
Secretary – Jerry Bekoe Jerry Bekoe, a former Navy Seal with numerous commendation medals, has a Masters degree in Public Health Administration which he utilizes as a Claims Officer for the Social Security Administration. He is also a Resident Pastor at the Restoration Chapel International House of Grace where he continuously puts the needs of others first.
Rosie Enchill has served as the financial adviser of Divine Gateway Foundation since its inception. She holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from DeVry University. Over 20 years ago, she founded Kairos Financial Services, LLC, a tax advisory and financial services firm specializing in customized services for asset management, business strategies, investments, retirement, estate planning, and charitable giving. She has worked as a consultant for several Fortune 500 companies in the US, Ghana, Nigeria, and West Africa.
